Cushy Life

Welcome πŸ™‚

I seem to have fallen into cushion (pillow) making mode recently. It’s a nice way to try out a patchwork design without having to go the whole hog and make a quilt. Long ago I made a cushion using Hawaiian quilting (here and here) and it has rested on one of my dining chairs ever since, I thought it looked lonely so I’ve made another.

This one has the well known orange peel design on it which was all over the internet a couple of years ago.

I’ve used the same cream base fabric as the Hawaiian cushion and the same blue tones so although they are different designs they still work together.

All hand quilted using Hobbs poly-down so the quilting pops out to create texture.

My next cushion is moving on apace. Remember at the start of last year I took part in a challenge to make an English Paper Pieced hexie flower a week? Well, I made the flowers but didn’t do anything with them so here are some of them being put to good use in cushion number three.20170526_081214

I will need to make three more cushions and am pondering on what designs and techniques to use.

Enjoy your week.

Until next time,

Chris x
